Win Pe was born in Mandalay in 1935. In a distinguished and varied career he has
worked as a broadcaster, writer, film maker, cartoonist and translator. He has long
been an internationally-acclaimed artist. During 18 years spent in America, he co-
founded Radio Free Asia and was also associated with Voice of America and the BBC.
He returned to Myanmar in 2012.
