Why did you choose this painting?

When I graduated, I started to paint landscapes. Then I found I was painting water and anything related to water. Then I noticed I liked painting water. I like it because people feel at peace when they see water. I feel it’s satisfying. Because of water, other colours look better. I like that feeling. When we paint, we use a colour palette. Once I found water drops on it. I liked them very much and started painting them. I have many subjects for my paintings. Some are outdoor scenes, some are portraits. And sometimes I paint models who sit in front of me.

Has life for you as a painter changed in the past decade?

I think art receives more acknowledgement in Myanmar now. In the past, not every school taught art. But the school I went to taught art from kindergarten to the tenth standard. It hired a teacher to teach art for one session. So I’ve been familiar with art ever since I was young. But not every school had art classes back then. I heard that nowadays most government schools have one art session a week. When I was young, I liked making paintings at home. And the school dedicated personal development sessions to art. Sometimes we had art classes. Now that most schools have classes devoted to art, it’s a sign that art is becoming welcomed and accepted.

မော်မော်

ဒီပန်းချီကားကို ဘာလို့ ရွေးတာလဲ။

ကျောင်းပြီးတုန်းကတော့ ရှုခင်းပုံလေးတွေ ရေးဖြစ်တယ်ပေါ့။ အဲ့ထဲကမှ များသောအားဖြင့် ရေနဲ့ပတ်သက်တာလေးတွေ ရေးရင်းနဲ့ ပိုရေးဖြစ်လာတယ်။ အဲ့တော့ ကိုယ့် ဘာသာ သတိထားမိပြီးတော့ ရေးရတာပိုကြိုက်တယ်။ ရေကို ဘာလို့ကြိုက်လဲဆိုတော့ လူတိုင်းက ရေကို မြင်တာနဲ့ အေးချမ်းတယ်၊ ကျေနပ်တယ်လို့ ခံစားရတယ်။ ရေကြောင့် ကျန်တဲ့အရောင်တွေ ပိုပြီးတော့ ကောင်းသွားတယ်။ အဲ့ဒီအရသာလေးကိုလည်း ကြိုက်တယ်။  ပြီးတော့ ရေစက်လေးတွေရေးတာက ပန်းချီရေးတဲ့အခါ အောက်ခံတဲ့ ဘုတ်ပြားတို့ ရှိတယ်လေ။ အဲ့ဒီမှာ ရေစက်တွေ ကျလာတာကို ကြည့်ရင်းနဲ့ သဘောကျလို့ ကြည့်ဖြစ်ရင်းနဲ့ သဘောကျလို့ ရေးဖြစ်သွားတာပါ။ အခုရေးတဲ့ subject တွေက အစုံရှိတယ်။ outdoor scenery လေးတွေလည်း ရေးတယ်။ နောက် portrait လေးတွေလည်းရေးတယ်။ နောက်တစ်ခါ လူတစ်ယောက်က ထိုင်ပေးပြီးတော့ သူ့ကို မော်ဒယ်လုပ် ရေးတာမျိုးလည်း ရေးတယ်။

ပြီးခဲ့တဲ့ဆယ်စုနှစ်အတွင်း ပန်းချီဆရာတစ်ယောက်အနေနဲ့ ဘဝမှာ အပြောင်းအလဲတွေရှိလား။

အပြောင်းအလဲကတော့ မြန်မာပြည်မှာ ပန်းချီကို ပိုပြီး အာရုံရလာတယ်လို့ ခံစားရတယ်။ အရင်တုန်းကဆိုရင် မော်မော်တို့က စာသင်ကျောင်းတွေမှာ ကျောင်းတိုင်းကျောင်းတိုင်းက ပန်းချီဆိုတာကို ထည့်မသင်ကြဘူး။ ဒါပေမယ့် မော်မော်သင်ခဲ့ရတဲ့ကျောင်းကတော့ ပန်းချီကို သူငယ်တန်းကနေ ဆယ်တန်းအထိကို ပန်းချီသင်ရတယ်။ တစ်ချိန်အနေနဲ့ ဆရာတစ်ယောက်ထားပေးတယ်။ ငယ်ငယ်ကတည်းက ပန်းချီကို အကျွမ်းတဝင် ရင်းနှီးတယ်။ အဲ့တုန်းကတော့ ကျောင်းတိုင်းမရှိဘူး။ အခုဆိုရင် အစိုးရကျောင်းတော်တော်များများက ပန်းချီကို တစ်ဘာသာအနေနဲ့ ထည့်သွင်းနေကြပြီဆိုတာ ကြားရတယ်။ ကျမငယ်ငယ်တုန်းကတော့ ကိုယ့်ဘာသာ ပန်းချီကို အိမ်မှာရေးတာလည်းကြိုက်တယ်။ နောက် ဖွံဖြိုးရေးအချိန်အနေနဲ့ ပန်းချီဆရာတစ်ယောက်ထားပေးတယ်။ ပန်းချီသင်တဲ့အချိန်ရှိတယ်။ အခုနောက်ပိုင်းကြားဖူးတာ ကျောင်းတွေတော်တော်များများမှာ ပန်းချီကို ထည့်သွင်းလာတယ်ဆိုတော့ ပန်းချီအပေါ်မှာ ပိုပြီးတော့ အမြင်ပိုကျယ်လာတယ်ဆိုတဲ့ အပြောင်းအလဲတစ်ခုပေါ့။
