Why did you create this painting?
I graduated from art school in 1997. After that I didn’t have a stable job. Sometimes I drew illustrations and created short comics for Tay Za, Shwe Thwe and Ngwe Tar Yi. Two years later, I got a job through my connection with Orient Gallery. Each day I took a bus from home to work. In the evening, though, you couldn’t find any buses. During the rush hour they were full, with some people hanging outside. I remember hanging onto the bus every evening. I got inspiration for my painting from that. After three years at that job, I began to work as a caricature artist. That was in Bayint Naung. So I had to hang onto the crowded buses as usual. Up till now, I’ve painted cars and tractors. I want to show the daily life and troubles of lower-class and informal workers.
Has Myanmar changed in the past decade?
There were no big changes from 2010 to 2019. Most so-called change didn’t affect the lower class. There are good things such as being able to use mobile phones and the internet. But there are also bad things associated with them. There are still areas with crowded buses. There are deeply corrupted minds. And there are people who prey on the vulnerable. I just want to spend my time focusing on what I’m good at as an artist.

ရဲအောင်မြတ်
ဒီပန်းချီကားကို ဘာလို့ ရေးတာလဲ။
၁၉၉၇ ခုနှစ်မှာ ပန်းချီကျောင်းဆင်းတယ်။ ကျောင်းပြီးတော့အလုပ်မယ်မယ်ရရမရှိတော့ တခါတလေမှရေးရတဲ့ တေဇ၊ ရွှေသွေးနဲ့ ငွေတာရီမှာ သရုပ်ဖေါ်ပုံနဲ့ ဇာတ်လမ်းတိုကာတွန်းလေးတွေ ရေးတယ်။ ၂နှစ် လောက်ကြာတော့ orient gallery နဲ့ပတ်သက်ဆက်စပ်ပြီး အလုပ်တစ်ခု ရတယ်။ အိမ်နဲ့အလုပ်ကိုလိုင်းကားစီးသွားရတယ်။ ညနေဆိုကားအဆက်ပြတ်ပြီ။ လာတဲ့ကားက ရုံးဆင်းချိန်ဆိုတော့ ငါးပိသိပ်၊ ငါးချဥ်သိပ်၊ လူတွေတိုးလို့တွဲလောင်းနဲ့။ မှတ်မိသလောက်က ညနေတိုင်း ကားတွယ်စီးဖြစ်နေတာ။ ပန်းချီရေးချင်စိတ်က အဲမှာအစပျိုးနေပြီ။ ၃နှစ်လောက်လုပ်ပြီးတော့ ကယ်ရီကေးချား ကာတွန်းအလုပ်တစ်ခုကိုပြောင်းတယ်။ အဲ့ဒီ အလုပ်က ဘုရင့်နောင်မှာ ရှိတယ်။ အဲ့တော့လည်း လူကြပ်ကြပ် ဘတ်စ်ကားကို ထုံးစံအတိုင်း တွယ်စီးရတာပါပဲ။ ဒီနေ့အထိတော့ ကားတွေ၊ ထော်လာဂျီတွေ ရေးဖြစ်နေတယ်။ အဓိကပြချင်တာက အခြေခံလူတန်းစား လက်လုပ်လက်စားတွေရဲ့နေ့စဉ်ဖြတ်သန်းနေရတဲ့ ဘဝတွေ အခက်အခဲတွေ တစိတ်တပိုင်းမြင်စေချင်လို့ပါ။
ပြီးခဲ့တဲ့ဆယ်စုနှစ်အတွင်း မြန်မာနိုင်ငံမှာ အပြောင်းအလဲတွေရှိတယ်ထင်လား။
၂၀၁ဝ ကနေ ၂၀၁၉ ကြားကာလတွေကို တိုးတက်မူကြီးကြီးမားမား သိပ်မတွေ့ရဘူး။ တိုးတက်တယ်ထင်ရတဲ့အကြောင်းအရာ တော်တော်များများကလည်း အခြေခံလူတန်းစားတွေအတွက် မထိရောက်သလိုပါပဲ။ ကောင်းတာတွေက မိုဘိုင်ဖုန်း၊ အင်တာနက် သုံးနိုင်လာတာပဲ။ ဒါတောင် အဆိုးကတွဲပါလာတာ။ ကားတွေတောင် တိုးစီးနေတဲ့နေရာတွေ ဒေသတွေရှိနေသေးတယ်။ ဟိုးတုန်းကတည်းက အရိုးစွဲနေတဲ့ စိတ်ဓါတ်ပျက်ဆီးမှုတွေရှိနေသေးတယ်။
ကြီးနိုင်ငယ်ညှင်း နိုင်ရာကျက်စားနေတဲ့လူတွေလည်း ရှိနေသေးတယ်။
ကိုယ်ကပန်းချီဆရာလုပ်နေတာမို့ ကိုယ်ကျွမ်းကျင်ရာ ကိုအာရုံစိုက်ရင်း ရိုးသားစွာ ဘဝ ကိုကုန်ဆုံးချင်ပါတယ်ဗျာ။
