Myo Nyunt Khin was born in Yangon in 1967 and studied painting at the city’s State
School of Fine Arts, graduating in 1990. His main teachers were Lun Gywe, Thu Kha,
Kyaw Lay, Mya Aye, Thit Lwin Soe and Say Yoe. A full-time artist living in Yangon, he
has participated in three solo exhibitions and 100 group shows. He is known for
transparent colours and for small heads on figures, which under Myanmar’s junta
drew attention from censors who suspected it might be commentary on the ruling
military elite.
