The Thukhuma Collection focuses on Myanmar’s transitional decade of the 2010s. With that decade passing into history, an opportunity arises to examine it through the paintings exhibited here. Why did you create this painting? I painted this picture while teaching a painting course in Yangon. Then I donated it to New Zero Art Space. The title is ‘Mandalay’ because I painted the interior of Mandalay’s Maha Myat Muni Pagoda. The style was quick, playing with brush strokes. I wanted to capture the colours…
